Viewing the licences available on a licence server
You use the Totals tab of the
Asta Licence Manager to view details of the number of licences that:
- Are available - or active - for each Elecosoft product
on a .
- Have been loaned from a licence server to other computers.
- Are temporarily available on a licence server. Temporary
licences include trial licences and licences that have been loaned
to the licence server - ie licences that will expire at some point.
You can also use this tab to cancel licence
loans, returning the loaned licences to the licence server prior to
the original expiry date of the loan.
If you use more than one licence server, you can view details of each
licence server by entering the name of the computer on which it is installed
in the Server name field and clicking
Refresh. Alternatively, click
Browse to search the network for
the computer on which the licence server is installed.
The following information about available licences is displayed in the
Active licence totals grid:
- Product -
the name of the Elecosoft product to which the licences relate.
- Type - if
not standard licences, the type of licence, for example Trial, Read
Only or Educational.
- Mode - whether
the licences are standalone (local) or network licences.
- Total - the
number of licences that have been added to the licence server, minus
any licences that have been moved or loaned from the licence server.
This figure includes any temporary licences that have been added to
the licence server.
- Issued - the
number of licences that are currently in use by clients.
- Avail - the
number of licences that are available to be issued to clients.
The following information about licences that have been loaned to other
computers is displayed in the Loaned
licences grid:
- Product -
the name of the Elecosoft product to which the licences relate.
- Type - if
not standard licences, the type of licence, for example Trial, Read
Only or Educational.
- Mode - whether
the licences are standalone (local) or network licences.
- Destination
- the name of the computer to which the licences have been loaned.
- Date/Time Issued
- the date and time at which the licences were loaned.
- Quantity -
the number of licences that have been loaned.
- Days - the
number of days for which the licences have been loaned.
- Left - the
number of days remaining before the licence loan expires.
- Expiry Date/Time
- the date and time at which the licence loan expires.
- Cancellation Status
- the status of any licence loan cancellations that are to be attempted
repeatedly at regular intervals until successful, and the date and
time up to which repeated cancellation attempts will be made.
To cancel a licence loan, returning the loaned licence to the licence
server prior to the original expiry date of the loan, select then right-click
the appropriate row in the Loaned licences
grid and select Cancel Loan. Click here for more information on

to be attempted repeatedly at regular intervals until successful.
The following information about trial licences and licences that have
been loaned to the licence server is displayed in the Temporary
licence totals grid:
- Product -
the name of the Elecosoft product to which the licences relate.
- Type - if
not standard licences, the type of licence, for example Trial, Read
Only or Educational.
- Mode - whether
the licences are standalone (local) or network licences.
- Quantity -
the number of temporary licences available on the licence server.
- Days - the
number of days for which the licences have been loaned, or the number
of days for which trial licences are originally usable.
- Left - the
number of days remaining before the temporary licences expire.
- Expiry Date/Time
- the date and time at which the temporary licences expire.
You can sort the information in the grids according to the information
in any column by clicking the heading of a column. To switch between sorting
the information in ascending and descending order, click a column heading
more than once.
You can configure Asta Licence Manager to update the information on
this tab automatically, using the Automatically
refresh displayed data check box on the Options
tab. If you choose not to update the information automatically, you can
update it manually at any time by clicking Refresh.
Click Copy to copy the information
from this tab to the Windows Clipboard, from where you can paste it into
another application, for example a word processor or a spreadsheet.
