Locating a project timeline task in the bar chart

You can locate tasks that have been added to a project timeline in the bar chart. This can be useful if you need to see where a task appears in the project itself, and if you want to see more detail of a particular task. For example, if you have added a summary task to the timeline, locating it in the bar chart will allow you to drill down into the summary group and view details of the tasks contained within it.

To locate a project timeline task or milestone in the bar chart:

In the timeline pane, click the task or milestone to select it.
On the Format tab, in the Current Selection group, click Go To Task.

The selected task is located in any views that are currently open, and selected. If the task is not present in any currently open views, a new view containing the task is opened.
