Exporting and printing a project timeline
A project timeline can be a useful way of presenting an overview of a project. You may want to share the project timeline with others - for example, you may want to incorporate it into a Word document or a Powerpoint presentation, or to email it to someone.
There are two ways of sharing a project timeline: you can export it to the Windows Clipboard, from where you can paste it into another application, and you can print it.
To export a copy of the project timeline to the Windows Clipboard:
- If the timeline pane is not currently displayed, on the View tab, in the Show group, click Timeline to display it.
- Click in the timeline pane.
- On the Format tab, in the Export group, click the Export Timeline dropdown and select Clipboard.
You can now paste the copy of the timeline into another application - for example, a Word document, a Powerpoint presentation or an email.
To print the project timeline:
- If the timeline pane is not currently displayed, on the View tab, in the Show group, click Timeline to display it.
- Click in the timeline pane.
- On the Format tab, in the Export group, click the Export Timeline dropdown and select Print Timeline. The Print dialog appears.
- Use the fields on the dialog to select a printer and to specify how you want to print the timeline, then click Print.
You can also access the timeline export commands by right-clicking the project timeline and selecting Export Timeline.
