Creating a new calendar
There are three different methods of creating new calendars. Two of the methods involve using the Calendar Wizard, which simplifies the process of creating a calendar and assigning work patterns to it; the third method involves creating the calendar without using the wizard, and is more suited to advanced users. The method that you choose will depend primarily on the complexity of the calendar that you want to create:
- If you want to create a calendar in which all working days have the same amount of working time, which can be divided into two shifts each day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon - use the Calendar Wizard to create a simple calendar.
- Working time lasts from 09:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:30 on Monday to Friday each week and in which there is no working time on Saturday and Sunday.
- Working time lasts from 07:45 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 14:45 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week and in which there is no working time on Wednesday and Sunday.
- Working time lasts from 08:30 to 12:15 and 12:45 to 14:30 on Monday to Saturday each week and in which there is no working time on Sunday.
- If you want to create a calendar in which not all working days have the same amount of working time, or in which working time cannot be divided simply into two shifts each day, use the Calendar Wizard to create a calendar that uses complex work patterns.
- Working time lasts from 09:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:30 on Monday to Friday each week and from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturday and in which there is no working time on Sunday.
- Working time lasts from 07:00 to 16:00 on Monday to Thursday each week and in which there is no working time on Friday to Sunday.
- Working time lasts from 08:30 to 12:15 and 12:45 to 16:30 for five days, there is no working time for the following three days, and in which this pattern repeats itself regardless of a standard seven day week.
- If you want to create a very detailed and individual calendar and you are an advanced user, use the Calendar Properties dialog to create a calendar. Note that in order to create calendars in this way, you must first clear the Use Calendar Wizard to create new Calendars check box on the Calendars tab of the Options dialog.
