Editing the properties of an IFC group model
Once you have created an IFC group model, you can edit its properties. The main reasons for doing this are to:
- Specify override colours that should be used to display different types of 3D object in the corresponding 3D models.
- Specify the way in which tasks are treated when a timeline simulation is run.
- Align the 3D models in an IFC group model, if they are currently misaligned.
- Add site objects to a 3D model, and to adjust their size and placement and animate them to reflect their movements on site.
- Map IFC properties to user-defined fields, to make IFC properties from a 3D model available in Asta Powerproject.
If the override colours and timeline behaviour that you specify for an IFC group model differ from the settings on any of the individual 3D models within the group, the IFC group model settings take precedence.
To edit the properties of an IFC group model:
- Launch Library Explorer and click IFC Group Model in the left pane.
- Right-click the IFC group model that you want to edit in the right pane of Library Explorer and select Properties from the menu that appears. The IFC Group Model Properties dialog appears.
You can also access the IFC Group Model Properties dialog by selecting an IFC group model on the 4D tab of the Backstage view and clicking Model Properties. - Click the Group Model Details tab.
- Enter a brief name and an additional description in the Name and Description fields.
- Use the Add and Remove buttons to add and remove 3D models to and from the IFC group model as required.
- Click the Colour Override tab. 3D objects within a 3D model may appear in different colours, depending on colour settings within the 3D model itself. You can use this tab to specify that 3D objects should instead be coloured according to the background colour of the code library of the tasks with which are associated, or according to override colours that apply to specific IFC entities and types of 3D object in the 3D model.
- Click the Timeline Behaviour tab. The grid on this tab displays a list of IFC task types. For each IFC task type, you can specify details which affect the way in which 3D objects that correspond to tasks that have been assigned that IFC task type appear when you run a timeline simulation of the 3D model.
- Click the Alignment tab to align the 3D models in the IFC group model, if they are currently misaligned.
- Click the Site Objects tab to add site objects to the 3D model, to adjust their size and placement and to animate them to reflect their movements on site.
- Click the UDF Transfer tab to map IFC properties to user-defined fields, to make IFC properties available in Asta Powerproject.
- Click Close to close the IFC Group Model Properties dialog.
