Creating build locations

You use the New Build Location dialog to create a build location that can be used to categorise pull plan tasks according to the place at which they are carried out.

To access the New Build Location dialog, click Build Locations in the left pane, then click New Build Location. You can also access this dialog by clicking New Build Location in the Insert Swimlane Above and Insert Swimlane Below dialogs, when the whiteboard is configured so that swimlanes represent build locations.

To create a new build location:

  1. On the New Build Location dialog, enter a descriptive name for the build location in the Title field.

You can use location groups to categorise build locations and to restrict locations to particular projects. If you import projects from Asta Powerproject in which code libraries are used to identify the location of tasks, the location groups correspond to the code libraries in the project, and the build locations correspond to individual codes.
  2. Select the location group to which the build location belongs in the Location Group field. If you do not use location groups to categorise build locations, select 'default' in this field.

If a build location group is restricted for use with a particular project, the name of the project appears after the location group name in this field.

To create a new location group for the build location, click New Build Location Group; to edit the details of the selected location group, click Edit Build Location Group.
  3. Click Save. The build location is created and you are returned to the Build Locations page, where the new build location appears in the build location list.
