Adding a server-level user

You use the New User dialog to add new server-level users to the Enterprise server and to specify a username and password for each user. You must specify a username, but you do not have to specify a password when you set up a server-level user.

To access the New User dialog, select the Add command from the User menu or click Add User.

It is not essential to set up server-level users. If you do not add any server-level users, everyone is logged in automatically as 'Admin' and all users have access to all data sources. However, by setting up server-level users, you can restrict the access that each user has to data sources.

If you set up and run more than one Enterprise server on a machine, the server-level users you create apply to all instances of the server that you run.

To add a new server-level user:

  1. Enter the name that the user will have to type in each time they log in to Asta Powerproject in the Username field.

If you want the user to be able to log in to the server automatically via Active Directory®, ensure that the username you enter matches the user's Windows® username exactly.
  2. Enter the password that the user will have to type in each time they log in to Asta Powerproject (if one is required) in the Password field.
  3. Retype the password in the Confirm field.
  4. Click OK to confirm your changes and close the New User dialog.
