Hiding and displaying 3D objects in a 3D model
When you open a 3D model or IFC group model in the IFC Model pane, all 3D objects within the 3D model or IFC group model are displayed initially. You can hide or display certain 3D objects only; this may be useful in order to focus on the particular objects in which you are interested at a certain time.
To specify which 3D objects to display in the IFC Model pane, on the 4D tab, in the 3D Viewer group, click the Hide/Show Items dropdown and select the objects that you want to display. The dropdown offers the following selections:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Show All Items | Displays all 3D objects. Select this after having displayed a selection of 3D objects in order to view a 3D model in its entirety once more. |
Hide All Items | Hides all 3D objects, leaving the IFC Model pane empty. This is a useful command to select prior to displaying a selection of 3D objects. |
Show Planned | Displays only those 3D objects that are associated with tasks that are planned to be completed (according to the current baseline) by the report date of the progress entry period. |
Show Completed | Displays only those 3D objects that are associated with tasks that have been completed. |
Hide Completed | Displays only those 3D objects that are associated with tasks that are yet to be completed. |
Show Only Selected Tasks | Displays only those 3D objects that are currently selected. |
Hide Selected Tasks | Hides those 3D objects that are currently selected. |
Show Branch | Displays only those 3D objects that are associated with the tasks in the chart or summary group that is currently displayed. |
Show View | Displays only those 3D objects that are associated with the tasks in the current view. |
Reset Model | Resets the display of the 3D model to display all 3D objects - even any that have been hidden according to their IFC category. |
Synchronise Comparison Model Visibility | When selected, applies hide/show settings to the IFC Comparison Model pane as well as to the IFC Model pane. In addition to the hide/show settings, this determines whether your ambient shading and reveal spaces settings are applied to the IFC Comparison Model pane as well as the IFC Model pane. |
If the IFC Model pane is currently displaying an IFC group model, the Hide/Show Items dropdown selections hide and display 3D objects from all of the 3D models in the IFC group model.
You can also show or hide 3D objects in a 3D model that belong to particular IFC product searches or IFC product selections by right-clicking an IFC product search or IFC product selection in the project view and selecting Show in Viewer or Hide in Viewer from the menu that appears.
Note that if you configure the IFC Model and IFC Comparison Model panes to display only 3D objects with particular IFC categories, this overrides any hide/show settings that you select (except for the Reset Model command). For example, if you choose to display all 3D objects that have been completed, only those completed objects that have a currently-displayed IFC category are shown.
