Using the Files Share app to access your Cloud storage area

When you use Asta Powerproject SaaS, you have access to a Cloud storage area. This is a good place to store files that you want to be available on multiple computers, as you can access files in your Cloud storage area from any computer.

You cannot use your computer's standard file management software - for example, Windows Explorer - to copy and paste files between your local computer and your Cloud storage area; you must use the Files Share app - available to launch via the Remote Desktop workspace - to do this.

We recommend that you save projects to your Cloud storage area rather than to a local or network drive, as saving to the Cloud storage area is much quicker. If you want to keep a project on a local or network drive, save it to the Cloud storage area, then use the Files Share app to copy or move the project from there to the local or network drive.

If you are using a computer running macOS, Asta Powerproject SaaS and its related apps do not have access to files that are stored locally or on network drives, unless you have installed a beta version of Microsoft Remote Desktop Client, so any information in this topic relating to files stored locally or on network drives does not apply.

When you launch the Files Share app, it defaults to showing you the Asta Powerproject SaaS 'Projects' folder in your Cloud storage area; your Cloud storage area is referred to as 'Shared Data (Y:)' in the Files Share app:

Click Upwards pointing arrow to move up one level, from your 'Projects' folder to the root of your Cloud storage area:

You can now see all of the folders that are available in your Cloud storage area:

You can navigate around these Cloud-storage area folders in the same way that you navigate around local or network folders on your computer. You can also cut, copy, paste and delete files in the same way that you would cut, copy, paste and delete files in local or network folders.

If you click Upwards pointing arrow again, you can see all of the local and network drives that are available to you, as well as the drive that represents your Cloud storage area - the 'Shared Data (Y:)' drive:

In the illustration above, as well as the 'Shared Data (Y:)' drive - your Cloud storage area - the computer's local 'C:' drive and two network drives - 'O:' and 'Q:' - are available. The drives available to you may differ from those shown above.

To navigate to a drive, double-click it.

You can move between drives in this way to copy or move files from a local or network drive to your Cloud storage area, and vice-versa.

Note that the shortcuts in the left pane of the Files Share app that are highlighted below - 'Desktop', 'Downloads', 'Documents', etc - point to folders in your Cloud storage area, and not to folders on your computer's local drive:
