Identification fields

For each field listed below, the following information is given:

  • Description - the information displayed by the field when added to the spreadsheet or to a text annotation.
  • Parameters - any additional, optional parameters that you can use to modify the information that the field displays or the way in which the information is displayed.
  • Editable? - whether the field is editable when displayed in a spreadsheet column. If a field is editable in the spreadsheet, you can change the data displayed in the column to edit the properties of the corresponding bar, task or allocation.

Bar ID

Description The unique ID number of a bar; for allocation rows, the unique ID number of the corresponding resource or cost centre.
Parameters Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
Editable? No

Bar name

Description The name of a bar; for allocation rows, the name of the corresponding resource or cost centre.
Parameters Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
Editable? Yes (except for allocation rows)

Cumulative items

Description The number of tasks or allocations on a bar; for bars containing one of more summary or expanded tasks, this includes the number of tasks and milestones within the subcharts or summary groups but not the expanded or summary tasks themselves. The tasks and milestones within any nested expanded or summary tasks are included in the count, but the nested expanded or summary tasks themselves are not counted.

ID

Description The unique ID number of a bar, or task, depending on whether the bar is displayed in one-task-per-line mode; for allocation rows, the unique ID number of the corresponding resource or cost centre. A unique ID number is assigned to each object automatically as it is created.

Items

Description The number of tasks or allocations on a bar.
Parameters

Last edited by

Description The user who last edited an object.
Parameters

Description When an object was last edited.
Parameters

Line

Description The number of the line on which an object is displayed in the bar chart.
Parameters Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
Editable? No

Name

Description The name of a bar or task, depending on whether the bar is displayed in one-task-per-line mode; for allocation rows, the name of the corresponding resource or cost centre.
Parameters

  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.

Natural order

Description The number of a bar or task, according to its position in the natural order; for allocation rows, zero is displayed.

Editable? No

Notes

Description Any standard notes that have been entered against an individual task using the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog; for allocation rows, nothing is displayed. This field does not display any dated notes that have been entered against tasks.

  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.

Parent name

Description The name of a task's parent summary or expanded task.
Parameters Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
Editable? No

Path name

Description

A task's path from the programme chart down the project hierarchy, naming each parent task in turn. With no parameters, this gives the full path; use parameters to give part of the path only.

Parameters
  • Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
  • Start position - enter a positive integer here to mean 'start at this position in the path'; enter a negative integer here to mean 'start this far before the end of the path'.
  • End position - enter a positive integer here to mean 'end at this position in the path'; enter a negative integer here to mean 'end this far before the end of the path'.

Photo, file notes

Description

Any dated file or URL notes that have been entered against an individual task, using either the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog or Asta Site Progress, together with the date and time of the notes; for allocation rows, nothing is displayed. If photographs have been associated with tasks in Asta Site Progress, the location and file name of the photographs appear in this field.

 

Dated file or URL notes also appear in the Attachments field, which provides you with a more user-friendly way of viewing attachments: unlike the this field, the Attachments field is ALT-clickable, which enables you to view the attachments.

Project

Description The name of a project, or the project in which an item is located.

Sub-type

Description The type of task, for example milestone or summary; for a cost allocation, whether it relates to income and cost; for a resource allocation, whether it is scheduled or demand.

Task ID

Description The unique ID number of a task or allocation.
Parameters

Task ID (WBN)

Description

A code generated for each task; task ID (WBN) codes need not be unique. For allocation rows, nothing is displayed.

Task ID (WBN) path name

Description

A task's path from the programme chart down the project hierarchy, giving the task ID (WBN) code of each parent task in turn. For allocation rows, nothing is displayed.

Task name

Description The name of a task; for allocation rows, the name of the corresponding resource or cost centre.

Editable? Yes (except for allocation rows)

Text notes

Description Any dated text notes that have been entered against an individual task, using either the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog or Asta Site Progress, together with the date and time of the notes; for allocation rows, nothing is displayed.

Type

Description The type of bar chart object, for example bar, task or permanent resource.
Parameters

  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.
Editable? No

Unique Task ID

Description

A unique identification number generated for each task. The unique task ID is a combination of an alphanumerical prefix string, which you can define, and a number. For allocation rows, nothing is displayed.

WBS Code

Description

The WBS code that has been assigned to each task from the project's work breakdown structure. For allocation rows, nothing is displayed.

WBS Name

Description

The description of the WBS code that has been assigned to each task from the project's work breakdown structure. For allocation rows, nothing is displayed.
