Assigning Line of Balance codes to unit networks and individual activities
Once you have set up your unit networks and the 'location' and 'stages' code libraries, you must assign codes from these code libraries to the unit networks and to the activities within them.
You must ensure that you assign codes from these code libraries to the correct objects in your project: if you assign them incorrectly, your Line of Balance graphs will not work.
If you have modelled unit networks as multi-task bars
If you have modelled unit networks as multi-task bars, as illustrated below:
- Assign codes from the 'location' library to the bars that represent the corresponding unit network. In the example above, you would assign the Plot 1 code to the Plot 1 bar; assign the Plot 2 code to the Plot 2 bar; and so on.
- Assign codes from the 'stages' library to the tasks on the bars that represent the corresponding stage. In the example above, you would assign the Brick to DPC code to the Brick to DPC tasks; assign the Carpenter Roof code to the Carpenter Roof tasks; and so on.
If you have modelled unit networks as summary groups
If you have modelled unit networks as summary groups, as illustrated below:
- Assign codes from the 'location' library to the summary tasks that represent the corresponding unit network. In the example above, you would assign the Plot 1 code to the Plot 1 summary task; assign the Plot 2 code to the Plot 2 summary task; and so on.
- Assign codes from the 'stages' library to the bars within the summary groups that represent the corresponding stage. In the example above, you would assign the Brick to DPC code to the Brick to DPC bars; assign the Carpenter Roof code to the Carpenter Roof bars; and so on.
Once you have assigned codes from the 'location' and 'stages' code libraries to the unit networks and to the activities within them, you can generate a Line of Balance graph.
