Specifying which code libraries to display
You can use the project view to specify which code libraries to display on the bar chart - ie which code libraries to use to colour tasks. Tasks are coloured according to the codes from the selected libraries that have been assigned to them - or to their bars, depending on whether you have clicked the Use on tasks or Use on bars radio button on the Tasks tab of the Format Bar Chart dialog.
Using code libraries to colour-code tasks is a good way of indicating their properties visually. For example, you could set up code libraries to represent the location of resources or the departments that are responsible for carrying out tasks.
To specify which code libraries to display on the bar chart:
- In the project view, locate a code library you want to display on the bar chart.
- Right-click the code library and select Display Library from the menu that appears.
- Repeat the above steps to select additional code libraries for display if required.
The code libraries that are currently displayed in the bar chart appear with a red tick against them in the project view, to differentiate them from the code libraries that are not currently displayed. In the following illustration, the Floor Level and Trade code libraries are currently displayed in the bar chart:
You can use more than one code library at a time to colour tasks - as in the illustration above. If you do this, you need to specify the order in which the code libraries are used to colour tasks. To do this:
- In the project view, right-click a code library and select Multiple Display Libraries from the menu that appears. The Multiple Display Libraries dialog appears.
The code libraries that are selected for display appear in a list in the Show libraries in this order field. Code libraries at the top of the list take priority over those lower down the list. If a bar or task is assigned a code from more than one display library, the task appearance is taken from the library that appears nearest the top of this list. - Determine the order in which code libraries are used to colour tasks by moving the code libraries up or down in the list in the Show libraries in this order field.
- Click OK.
You can also use the Multiple Display Libraries dialog to specify which code libraries to use to colour tasks on the bar chart.
