Working with booked out data in the destination project
To work on a destination project, open the project in the usual way. A destination project has the same user access rights as its master project, so any user who has access rights to a master project can open a destination project.
A destination project is essentially the same as any other project. You can create tasks, links, annotations and library items. You can also reschedule the project, create histogram reports and baseline the project.
In the destination project, all charts and summary groups that were included in the book out appear at the top level of the project hierarchy, regardless of their location in the hierarchy of the master project. This makes it easier to access the booked out charts and summary groups.
Destination projects differ from standard projects in the following ways:
- You cannot edit any existing Library Explorer objects.
- You cannot create new users, security groups, calendars, work patterns, shifts or exceptions in Library Explorer.
- You cannot change your password in a destination project.
- You can edit any existing views, but any changes that you make to existing views will not be booked back into the master project.
- You cannot add user-defined fields or user-defined tables to, or delete them from, a destination project.
- Although you can create baselines in a destination project, those baselines will not be booked back into the master project. This is because the baselines may not work correctly within the master project.
- You cannot revert to a baseline in a destination project.
- You cannot archive data from a destination project.
- Cross-chart links that start or finish outside the scope of a destination project are visible but read-only.
- You cannot edit tasks in a destination project if they are included in a hammock in the master project that has not been booked out.
- You cannot export data to, or import data from, Asta Site Progress when working with a destination project.
If you save a copy of a destination project, you cannot book the copy of the project into the master project; you can only book in the original destination project.
If you use Asta Powerproject 4D and you book data out of a project, destination projects differ from standard projects in the following ways:
- If you book data out of an Asta Powerproject 4D project that includes one or more 3D models, the 3D models are available, but read-only, in the destination project. When you distribute a destination project, you must distribute copies of the associated 3D models yourself manually.
- You can associate new 3D models with a destination project, but new 3D models will not be booked back into the master project.
- You cannot split or merge data in a 3D model when working with a destination project.
- You can configure timeline simulations in a destination project, but any changes that you make will not be saved.
- You can create IFC product searches and IFC product selections when working with a destination project.
