Steps to carry out before archiving data

Assuming that you have specified the location of your Enterprise servers and specified who is able to archive and restore data, before archiving data from a project you must carry out the following steps:

Ensure that the Enterprise server on which the project is located - and the Name Server that is used to locate the Enterprise server - have been started.
Ensure that no users are logged into any project on the server - not just the project from which you want to archive data - and that no users will attempt to log into a project on the server while the archiving procedure is underway.
Ensure that no data in the project is currently booked out - data from a project from which data is currently booked out cannot be archived.

It is also advisable to back up the project - and its baselines, if appropriate - before archiving.

Once you have carried out the above steps, you can begin the archiving procedure.
