Specifying who is able to archive and restore data

Before you can archive and restore data, you must specify which users within each Asta Powerproject project are able to archive and restore. By default, members of the top-level security group within each project has the right to archive and restore. Only a member of the top-level security group within a project can grant archive and restore rights to other subordinate security groups.

To grant the users of a security group archive and restore rights within a project:

  1. Open the project within Asta Powerproject, ensuring that you log into the project using the top-level user's username (which is usually 'Admin') and password.
  2. Enter Library Explorer and select Security Group in the left pane.
  3. Right-click the security group to which you want to grant archive and restore rights and select Properties. The Security Group Properties dialog appears.
  4. On the General tab, select the Archive/restore check box.
  5. On the Chart Access Rights tab, ensure that members of the security group have 'Read' rights over the areas of the project hierarchy that are to be archived or restored.
  6. Click OK to close the dialog.
