Specifying the location of your Enterprise servers
You must specify the location of the Enterprise servers on which the projects from which you want to archive data are located. You do this by specifying the location of the Name Server(s) that hold details of your Enterprise servers.
If you use Archive Manager to archive historic data, you must use the 'Name Server' server location method, as Archive Manager does not support the 'Shared Folder' method. Refer to the 'Server location methods' topic in Server Admin Help for more information on server location methods.
To specify the location of a Name Server that holds details of your Enterprise servers:
- Click Configure on the main Archive Manager screen. The Locate Enterprise Servers dialog appears.
- Click Add. The Add Server dialog appears.
- Enter the network machine name or the IP address of the computer on which the Name Server is located, then click OK. IP addresses are in the format XXX.X.X.XXX, for example 123.0.1.210.
If a Name Server is located on the specified computer, you return to the Locate Enterprise Servers dialog, where the Name Server is added to the grid in the dialog. If a Name Server cannot be found on the specified computer, a warning appears and you are asked if you want to add the server to the list anyway. If you choose not to, you return to the Add Server dialog where you can revise the details that you entered. - Click OK to close the Locate Enterprise Servers dialog.
You can also use the Locate Enterprise Servers dialog to delete the details of Name Servers that you no longer use for archiving. To do this:
- Select the Name Server that you want to remove.
- Click Remove. The selected Name Server is removed from the grid.
