Recombining previously-split 3D objects in a 3D model
If you have split one or more 3D objects in a 3D model into a number of smaller objects, you can recombine the smaller objects, removing the splits from the original object.
To recombine a previously-split 3D object in a 3D model:
- Right-click one of the 3D objects that resulted from the splitting of a larger object in the IFC Model pane and select Split/Merge Products - Remove Split from the menu that appears. The previously-split 3D objects are recombined into a single unsplit object. Note that if any of the 3D objects that are being recombined have been split further, all splits are removed, resulting in a single unsplit object.
If the previously-split 3D objects were included in one or more IFC product searches, the resulting unsplit object is included in the IFC product searches automatically. However, if the previously-split 3D objects were included in one or more IFC product selections, the resulting unsplit object is not included in the IFC product selections automatically, and the Update IFC Product Selections dialog appears, listing the IFC product selections in which the previously-split objects were included. - To update an IFC product selection so that it includes the resulting unsplit 3D object rather than one of the previously-split objects, select the check box to the left of the IFC product selection and click Update. Updating IFC product selections in this way means that any tasks that were associated with one of the previously-split 3D objects via an IFC product selection will be associated with the resulting unsplit object. If you choose not to update any IFC product selections, you will need to associate the unsplit 3D object with tasks manually.
If a project contains multiple IFC product selections, with each one containing one of the previously-split 3D objects, updating IFC product selections in this way results in a number of individual IFC product selections that all contain the resulting unsplit object. If this is the case, you can delete any unwanted duplicate IFC product selections.
It is not possible to recombine previously-split 3D objects in the following circumstances:
- If one or more of the 3D objects into which an original object was split are hidden (either manually, or via the IFC Categories pane) when you attempt to recombine the objects. In this case, display all 3D objects then attempt to recombine the objects again.
- If one or more of the 3D objects into which an original object was split have been merged with other objects. In this case, reseparate the previously-merged 3D objects then attempt to recombine the objects again.
