Date Zone Properties dialog - General tab
You use the General tab of the Date Zone Properties dialog to configure the way in which date zone appears. You can add and remove lines, change the colours and fonts, control the folding away of non-working time and specify whether to display progress lines and shading in the date zone.

To access the Date Zone Properties dialog, right click the date zone and select Properties.

Field/Button | Description |

Folding calendar |
Select the calendar whose non-working time you want to fold away so that only that calendar's working time is displayed in the bar chart. Non-working time is still displayed for bars and tasks that use different calendars.
The folding calendar is saved with the current tab, so you can display the same view in two different tabs, with a different folding calendar applied to each tab.

Check to fold out of view |
Select the All non-working check box to fold all non-working periods out of view, or clear the check box to fold the working and/or non-working periods that you select in the list below out of view. You can fold away working exceptions such as overtime, but you cannot fold away normal working time.

Date zone line list |
This grid displays the lines that are currently displayed in the date zone. You can display up to ten lines in the date zone. Click the Type field to specify what to display in each line.
Depending on your selection in the Type field, you may be able to specify a time period in the Time Unit field. For example, if you choose Working Units in the Type field, use the Time Unit field to choose whether you want the line to mark working weeks, working days and so on. Use the Quantity field to specify the number of time units that you want to be marked by each tick on the date zone line. For example, select Custom, Elapsed Weeks and 2, to set up a date zone line marking each fortnight with a tick. |
Background | Select the colour in which to display the date zone's background. |
Tick marks | Select the colour in which to display the date zone's tick marks. |
Text | Select the colour in which to display the date zone's text. |
Font | Click this button to specify the font in which to display text in the date zone. |
Display progress lines |
Select this check box to display progress lines in the date zone, or clear the check box to omit progress lines from the date zone. Displaying progress lines and/or shading in the date zone can help to make the report date of each progress period more obvious when progress lines are displayed jagged rather than straight.
|
Display progress shading |
Select this check box to display progress shading in the date zone, or clear the check box to omit progress shading from the date zone.
|
Display date shading |
Select this check box to display date range shading - as configured on the Shading tab of this dialog - in the date zone as well as in the bar chart, or clear the check box to display date range shading in the bar chart only.
If the Display progress shading check box is selected, date range shading is not displayed in the date zone and this check box is ghosted, as progress shading takes preference over date range shading.

How do I...

- Select the calendar whose non-working time you want to fold away in the Folding calendar field.
- Select the All non-working check box to fold away all non-working time in the selected calendar, or clear the check box and select the specific working or non-working periods that you want to fold away. You can fold away working exceptions such as overtime, but you cannot fold away normal working time.

Click the Type, Time Unit and Quantity fields in the date zone line list to specify what each line in the date zone displays. For example, select Custom, Elapsed Weeks and 2, to set up a date zone line marking each fortnight. By default, the first four date zone lines are used and the remainder are unused.

Specify the colour of the date zone's background, the colour of text in the date zone and the colour of tick lines in the date zone by selecting from the colour dropdowns. You can also change the font in which the text is displayed by clicking Font.

- Select the Display progress lines check box to display progress lines in the date zone.
- Select the Display progress shading check box to shade the date zone according to the colours and patterns that have been applied to each progress period.

Select the Display date shading check box to display date range shading - as configured on the Shading tab of this dialog - in the date zone as well as in the bar chart, or clear the check box to display date range shading in the bar chart only.
If the Display progress shading check box is selected, date range shading is not displayed in the date zone and this check box is ghosted, as progress shading takes preference over date range shading.
