Allocation fields

For each field listed below, the following information is given:

  • Description - the information displayed by the field when added to the spreadsheet or to a text annotation.
  • Parameters - any additional, optional parameters that you can use to modify the information that the field displays or the way in which the information is displayed.
  • Editable? - whether the field is editable when displayed in a spreadsheet column. If a field is editable in the spreadsheet, you can change the data displayed in the column to edit the properties of the corresponding bar, task or allocation.

Accounted for elsewhere

Description Whether an allocation's completed cost should be excluded from any task cost calculations, including roll-up costs on parent tasks, as its cost is not related to the parent task.

Allocation

Description The allocation, quantity or cost amount of a resource or cost allocation.

Balancing param

Description

The variable chosen as the balancing parameter for modelling resource allocations.

Calculated param

Description

The variable chosen as the calculated parameter for modelling resource allocations.

Contributes to activity effort budget

Description

Whether an allocation's effort contributes to the effort budget of the task; only applies to Effort on Allocation resource allocations where a task also has Effort Activity Budget allocations.

Delay

Description The duration (if any) by which the start of an allocation is delayed after the start of the task.

  • Override time unit - the time unit in which to display the information.

Ignore

Description Whether an allocation is excluded from any project calculations. Ignored allocations do not set the start and finish dates or duration of the task to which they are assigned, and are excluded from roll-up values and histograms.

May be shorter than task

Description

Whether an allocation can be shorter than its task, or whether the allocation must be the same length of the task.

Modelling type

Description

The method of resource modelling used by an allocation.

Nonlinearity

Description

The name of any resource curve that has been applied to an allocation; 'Profile' is displayed if an individual allocation profile is applied and 'None' is displayed if no resource curve or profile is applied.

Rate

Description The work rate of a permanent resource allocation, the consumption/supply rate of a consumable resource allocation, or the rate of a time-based cost allocation.

  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.
  • Rate details -  whether you want to display just the rate amount (for example 50.00), just the name of the work unit with which the rate is measured (for example Litre), just the time unit by which the rate is measured (for example Day) or all of the above (for example 50.00 Litre per Day).

Rate type

Description Whether the rate of an allocation is calculated as time units per unit (eg 1 hour per item) or units per time unit (eg items per hour).

Use task calendar

Description

Whether a resource allocation works to the calendar assigned to its task, rather than to the calendar assigned to its resource.
