Moving expanded tasks, summary tasks and hammocks

You can move expanded tasks and summary tasks both horizontally (along their bar) and vertically (up and down the bar chart view). You can only move hammocks vertically. When you move expanded and summary tasks, their subordinate tasks are also moved; when you move a hammock, only the hammock task is moved.

If an expanded task or summary task contains any tasks with progress, when you move the expanded task or summary task along its bar, the completed sections do not move.

You can move expanded tasks and summary tasks to position them so that they overlap other expanded tasks or summary tasks on the same bar, as illustrated below:

The summary tasks overlap

However, if you position an expanded task or summary task so that it overlaps a normal task on the same bar, the normal task moves along to accommodate the expanded task or summary task.

Hammocks must be on their own bar. You cannot move a hammock to position it on the same bar as other tasks.
