Specifying whether times are displayed with dates

Where Asta Powerproject displays dates relating to tasks and allocations, you can specify whether the dates are displayed on their own, or whether they are accompanied by the precise time as well. If you are planning tasks to a precise level of detail, for example where tasks can be shorter than a day, displaying the time as well as the date is useful. If you are planning tasks to a lower level of detail, for example where no task is shorter than a day, you may prefer to display dates on their own without times.

You can specify whether times are displayed with dates in the spreadsheet, in dialogs and in annotations. Note that:

  • If you display times with dates in annotations, times are also displayed with dates in fields that are displayed in the bar chart.
  • If you display times with dates in the spreadsheet, times are also displayed with dates in the Object Edit toolbar.

To specify whether times are displayed with dates:

  1. Click the File tab, then click Options. The Options dialog appears.
  2. Click the Format tab.
  3. Select the appropriate check boxes in the Show time with dates group to display times as well as dates in annotations, dialogs and the spreadsheet, or clear the check boxes to display dates without precise times.
  4. Click Close.

Note that you can override the formatting that you specify on this tab for specific cells in the spreadsheet, by selecting the cells, clicking the dialog launcher Dialog launcher in the Font group on the Home tab, and configuring the formatting of those cells specifically on the Number tab of the Format Cells dialog.
