Sorts/groups
A sorts/group defines the order in which bars and tasks or allocations are sorted/grouped in the current view. For example, you could sort/group bars according to their start date so that the bar with the earliest start date is listed first and the bar with the latest start date is listed last. Similarly you could sort/group on task duration, so that the task with the longest duration is listed first, or on task cost so that the task with the greatest cost is listed first.
You can use sort/group categories to classify the sorts/groups in your project. Categorising sorts/groups in this way makes it easier to find the sort/group you are looking for, for example when selecting a sort/group to apply to the active view.
You can set up a sort/group by selecting the Sort/Group dropdown in the View Data group on the View tab then selecting New, or by creating a sort/group in Library Explorer.
You can edit the properties of a sort/group by editing options on the Sort/Group Properties dialog. To access help for each tab of the Sort/Group Properties dialog, press F1 while viewing the tab.
