Creating relationships between tasks
Once you have identified the tasks that make up a project, you create relationships between tasks by drawing links from one task to another. In order to link tasks, you must have a detailed knowledge of the project. If you did not link tasks together, you would not know when tasks have to be performed. For example, two tasks A and B could take place in the following order:

Or in the following order:

Task B can take place before Task A |
But if Task B cannot start before Task A has finished, you can add a link between the tasks that defines the order in which they must be carried out and the timing of when each can start:
Task A Task B |
|
||
Task B cannot start until Task A has been completed |
The task on which a link starts is known as the predecessor task, and the task on which a link ends is known as the successor task. In
