Defining the chart area

Once you have specified the page layout of a border, you can define the area in which a chart or histogram will be placed when you print the border from Asta Powerproject or Asta Easyplan. The size and positioning of the chart area is up to you: for example, you could create a large central chart area that takes up most of the border, or create a smaller chart area that leaves you more space to add embellishments to the border using Powerdraw.

You must define the chart area within a border before you can save it.

To define the chart area:

  1. Select the Create Object command from the Draw menu then select the Chart Area command, or click Define Chart Area.
  2. Click and drag the cursor to outline the area of the border that you want the chart area to occupy.
  3. Release the left mouse button when the chart area is the required size and shape.
  4. Click away from the chart area to deselect it.

The chart area is placed in front of any other items that are currently placed on the border. You can move the chart area by selecting it and dragging it across the border, and you can resize it by selecting it and dragging its handles.

By default, the chart area is displayed as an opaque bar chart to help you locate it within the border. You can make the chart area transparent by selecting the Sample Chart command from the View menu. A tick appears next to this menu command when the chart area is displayed as an opaque bar chart; the tick is removed when it is displayed transparently.
