Creating projects in Asta Connect

You use the New Project page to create a project - a master schedule - from scratch in Asta Connect. You can do this as an alternative to using a master schedule that has been created in another application such as Asta Powerproject into Asta Connect.

To access the New Project page:

  1. Click Projects in the left pane. The Projects page appears.
  2. Click New Project.
  3. Click Create a New Project.

To create a new project from scratch in Asta Connect:

  1. On the New Project page, enter a descriptive name for the project in the Project Name field. This is the only mandatory field on this page: the other fields are optional.
  2. If the project relates to a contract, enter the number of the contract in the Contract Number field.
  3. Enter the project's sector, for example Commercial or Residential, in the Sector field.
  4. Enter the approximate financial value of the project in the Value field.
  5. Select the currency in which the value is calculated in the Currency field.
  6. Enter the dates on which the project will start and finish in the Start Date and Finish Date fields.
  7. Click the Use Project Start Date for Week Numbering toggle to start whiteboard week numbering on the project start date - as specified on this page - for this project's pull plans, or turn off the toggle to number weeks according to the ISO week date system.
  8. Enter the physical location at which the project will take place in the Location field. This could be a town, a city, or a full address.
  9. Enter the region in which the project will take place, for example North West or South East, in the Region field.
  10. Enter the postcode of the project location in the Postcode field.
  11. Click Save. The project is created and you are taken to the Projects page, where the new project appears in the project list.

Once you have created a project, you can start creating activities in its master plan.
