Steps to carry out before restoring data

Assuming that you have specified the location of your Enterprise servers and specified who is able to archive and restore data, before restoring previously-archived data back into a project you must carry out the following steps:

  • Ensure that the Enterprise server on which the project and its associated archive are located - and the Name Server that is used to locate the Enterprise server - have been started.
  • Ensure that no users are logged into any project on the server - not just the project into which you want to restore data - and that no users will attempt to log into a project on the server while the restore procedure is underway.
  • Ensure that no part of the branch of the project into which you want to restore data is currently booked out - you cannot restore data into branch of a project that is currently booked out.

It is also advisable to back up the project - and its baselines, if appropriate - before restoring data into it from an archive.

Once you have carried out the above steps, you can begin the restore procedure.
