Recording details of Asta Site Progress users
You use the Site Progress Users dialog to record details of your Asta Site Progress users. There are three types of Asta Site Progress user:
- Administrator – one or more users who are able to use all of the Asta Site Progress configuration functionality. Administrator users are able to configure Asta Site Progress, create, edit and delete other users, record details of projects, associate users with their tasks in a project, and export and import project information to and from Asta Site Progress. Administrator users can also be Mobile users if required.
- Publisher – one or more users who are able to record details of projects, associate users with their tasks in a project, and export and import project information to and from Asta Site Progress. Publisher users can also be Mobile users if required. Publisher users cannot configure Asta Site Progress or create, edit and delete other users.
- Mobile user – one or more users who use Asta Site Progress to record and submit progress information using a mobile device.
Note that the Asta Site Progress users that you create are unrelated to 'users' in Asta Powerproject: you do not have to create corresponding user records in your projects.

- Click the Site Progress tab of the Backstage view.
- Click Log in and sign into Asta Site Progress configuration using the window that appears.
- Click Users. The Site Progress Users dialog appears.
- Click Add to create a new user. A new row appears in the grid for you to enter details of the user.
- Enter a name with which to identify the user in the Username column.
If the Export using resource allocations rather than user codes check box on the Export tab of the Site Progress Settings dialog is cleared, a code library entry with the user's name is created within the Asta Powerproject project(s) within the 'ASP_Users' code library when you associate the user with their tasks in a project; if the 'ASP_Users' code library does not already exist, it is created automatically. - Select a colour with which to highlight the user on the Site Progress Chart Assignments dialog in the Colour column. Assigning a different colour to each user makes it easier to identify users when you associate them with their tasks within a project. This colour is also assigned to the user's code library entry in the Asta Powerproject project(s).
- Enter the user's email address in the Email column. This email address will be the user's user name when they sign into Asta Site Progress and enables you to email them information on why progress they have recorded has been rejected.
If your organisation uses federation to enable users to sign in using their Microsoft Entra ID credentials, the email address you enter must belong to one of the domains you have specified on the Federation tab of the Site Progress Settings dialog. - Specify the user's role within Asta Site Progress in the Role column.
- If you have not enabled federation, you must specify a password for each user: click Password. The Password dialog appears. Either enter a password directly into the Password field, or click Generate to generate a password automatically. Administrator users and Publisher users use this password to log in and configure Asta Site Progress; Mobile users need to enter this password into Asta Site Progress the first time they launch the app on a mobile device. Click OK to return to the Site Progress Users dialog.
If you have enabled federation, you do not need to specify a password for each user, so the Password button is not available. - Once you have created a user, you may like to email them the details that they will need to sign into Asta Site Progress on their mobile device. They will need to know their user name - and their password, if you have not enabled federation. Select the user in the grid and click Copy Details to copy the user's sign in information to the Windows Clipboard, from where you can paste it into an email to send to the user.
- Click OK to return to the Site Progress tab of the Backstage view.
If you have already recorded details of the projects in which the user is involved, you can now associate the user with the tasks within the projects for which the user is responsible.

- Click Log in and sign into Asta Site Progress configuration using the window that appears.
- Click Users. The Site Progress Users dialog appears.

- If you have not enabled federation and you want to change the user's password, click Password, use the dialog that appears to enter a new password for the user, then click OK to return to the Site Progress Users dialog. If you have enabled federation, you do not need to specify a password for each user, so the Password button is not available.
