Editing photographs
Once you have attached photographs to a task or build stage to illustrate progress, or to a field evidence item to prove that tasks have been completed, you can edit them in a number of ways.
To crop, rotate or flip a photograph:
- For task and build stage photographs, on the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display it in more detail, then tap the photograph again; for field evidence photographs, tap
. The Edit Photo screen appears. - Tap
to display picture editing controls, which you use as follows:Control Description 
Displays a cropping grid, with crop handles at each corner of the grid and midway along each side of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid as required. With this cropping tool, you can specify a cropping grid of any aspect ratio. 
Displays a cropping grid, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping circle within a bounding rectangle, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping circle. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping circle is always retained. 
Displays a cropping ellipse within a bounding rectangle, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle and midway along each side of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping ellipse. With this cropping tool, you can specify an ellipse of any aspect ratio. 
Displays a square cropping grid, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 3:1 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 3:2 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 4:3 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 5:4 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 7:5 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Displays a cropping grid with a 16:9 width to height aspect ratio, with crop handles at each corner of the grid. Drag the crop handles to resize the cropping grid. With this cropping tool, the original aspect ratio of the cropping grid is always retained. 
Rotates the photograph clockwise by 90 degrees each time you tap. 
Flips the photograph from left to right. 
Flips the photograph from top to bottom. - Tap
after each stage of editing the photograph to save your change before making any subsequent edits using a different editing tool: if you start using a different editing tool without tapping
, your edits using the last tool will be lost. - While editing the photograph, tap
to undo a change you want to undo, and tap
to redo a change that you have undone accidentally. - When you have finished editing the photograph, tap
to save your changes, or tap
to abandon your changes and return the photograph to its original state. - Tap
to return to the previous screen, where your edits are displayed on the photograph.
You can also rotate photographs using the
and
controls.
To draw a shape directly onto a photograph:
- For task and build stage photographs, on the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display it in more detail, then tap the photograph again; for field evidence photographs, tap
. The Edit Photo screen appears. - Tap
to display shape drawing controls, which you use as follows:Control Description 
Inserts a square into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner. Drag the crop handles to resize the square - and make it into a rectangle if required; drag the square itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a circle within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the circle - and make it into an ellipse if required; drag the circle itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal line within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the line; drag the line itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal arrow within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the arrow; drag the arrow itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal double-headed arrow within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the arrow; drag the arrow itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal dotted line within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the line; drag the arrow itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal arrow with a dotted stem within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the arrow; drag the arrow itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a diagonal double-headed arrow with a dotted stem within a bounding rectangle into the centre of the photograph, with crop handles at each corner of the rectangle. Drag the crop handles to resize the arrow; drag the arrow itself to move it around the photograph. 
Inserts a shape of your choosing into the photograph. Tap the photograph at the point at which you want the first vertex (eg a corner of a triangle) to appear; with each subsequent tap, a new vertex appears, with a straight line connecting it to the last-created vertex. The shape can have as many vertices as you want. Once you have created the final vertex and formatted the shape as required - see below - the final vertex is connected to the first with a straight line, completing the shape, when you tap
.
Inserts a complex line into the photograph. Tap the photograph at the point at which you want the line to start; with each subsequent tap, a new vertex appears, with a straight line connecting it to the last-created vertex. The line can have as many vertices as you want. - With the shape you have inserted still selected, use the shape formatting controls that appear as follows:
Control Description 
Displays a set of colour controls that you can use to specify the colour of the shape. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to specify the thickness of the line. 
Deletes the selected shape. - Once you have inserted and formatted the shape, tap
to save your change before making any subsequent edits using a different editing tool: if you start using a different editing tool without tapping
, the shape will be deleted. - While editing the photograph, tap
to undo a change you want to undo, and tap
to redo a change that you have undone accidentally. - When you have finished editing the photograph, tap
to save your changes, or tap
to abandon your changes and return the photograph to its original state. - Tap
to return to the previous screen, where your edits are displayed on the photograph.
To annotate a photograph with text:
- For task and build stage photographs, on the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display it in more detail, then tap the photograph again; for field evidence photographs, tap
. The Edit Photo screen appears. - Tap
to display the text editing controls. - Tap
to add a text box to the centre of the photograph. - Use the keypad to enter text into the text box.
- Drag an edge of the text box to change its position in the photograph; drag the lower-right edge to rotate it if required.
- With the text box you have inserted still selected, use the text formatting controls that appear as follows:
Control Description 
Displays a set of font controls that you can use to specify the font of the text. 
Displays a set of colour controls that you can use to specify the colour of the text. 
Displays a set of colour controls that you can use to specify the background colour of the text box. 
Displays a set of controls that you can use to make the text bold or italic. 
Displays a set of controls that you can use to specify the alignment of the text. 
Deletes the selected text. - Once you have inserted and formatted the text box, tap
to save your change before making any subsequent edits using a different editing tool: if you start using a different editing tool without tapping
, the text box will be deleted. - While editing the photograph, tap
to undo a change you want to undo, and tap
to redo a change that you have undone accidentally. - When you have finished editing the photograph, tap
to save your changes, or tap
to abandon your changes and return the photograph to its original state. - Tap
to return to the previous screen, where your edits are displayed on the photograph.
To draw directly onto a photograph:
- For task and build stage photographs, on the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display it in more detail, then tap the photograph again; for field evidence photographs, tap
. The Edit Photo screen appears. - Tap
to display the drawing controls. - Draw directly onto the picture with your finger.
- With the drawing you have inserted still selected, use the formatting controls that appear as follows:
Control Description 
Displays a slider control that you can use to specify the thickness of the line. 
Displays a set of colour controls that you can use to specify the colour of the line. 
Deletes the selected drawn line. - Tap
after each stage of editing the photograph to save your change before making any subsequent edits using a different editing tool: if you start using a different editing tool without tapping

To adjust the visual appearance of photographs:
- For task and build stage photographs, on the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display it in more detail, then tap the photograph again; for field evidence photographs, tap
. The Edit Photo screen appears. - Tap
to display the visual appearance controls, which you use as follows:Control Description 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the brightness of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the contrast of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the hue of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the saturation of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the exposure of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to change the opacity of the photograph. 
Displays a slider control that you can use to blur the photograph 
Displays a slider control that you can use to sharpen the photograph - Tap
after each stage of editing the photograph to save your change before making any subsequent edits using a different editing tool: if you start using a different editing tool without tapping
, your edits using the last tool will be lost. - While editing the photograph, tap
to undo a change you want to undo, and tap
to redo a change that you have undone accidentally. - When you have finished editing the photograph, tap
to save your changes, or tap
to abandon your changes and return the photograph to its original state. - Tap
to return to the previous screen, where your edits are displayed on the photograph.
You can enter notes against photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage; you cannot enter notes against field evidence photographs.
To enter a note against a photograph (task or build stage photographs only):
- On the Photos tab that displays the photographs that have been attached to a task or build stage, tap the photograph to display the Photo Details screen.
- Tap in the Photo note text goes here field and enter any notes about the photograph.
- Tap
to save the note and return to the Photos tab, where the note appears to the right of the photograph.
