Annotating 3D objects in a 3D model with custom properties

You can annotate 3D objects in 3D models with custom properties. You do this by defining one or more user-defined fields for a 3D model, then recording information in the user-defined fields for each 3D object in the 3D model, using the IFC Properties pane. If you record custom information against 3D objects in a 3D model, you can then create IFC product searches that are based on this custom information. You can annotate site objects with custom properties in the same way as you annotate other 3D objects in a 3D model.

User-defined fields and IFC group models

If the IFC Model pane is currently displaying an IFC group model and you have set up user-defined fields for any of the individual 3D models in the IFC group model, the user-defined fields for all of the 3D models are displayed in the IFC Properties pane, but you cannot edit them; you need to open the 3D models individually in order to edit their user-defined fields.
