Resource Usage Properties dialog - Fields tab
You use the Fields tab of the Resource Usage Properties dialog to specify which columns of information to display in the resource usage view, beneath the spreadsheet. These columns display information to identify the tasks to which the resources or cost centres that are included in the resource usage view have been assigned. You also use this tab to specify the way in which the rows in the resource usage view are sorted/grouped. You can apply as many levels of sorting/grouping as you like, with rows in the resource usage view being sorted by the topmost level first, then by the next level, and so on.

To access the Resource Usage Properties dialog, click Properties in the left pane of the resource usage view, or right-click an allocation row in the resource usage view and select Resource Usage View Properties.

The Display columns grid on this dialog displays the following information about each field that is displayed in the resource usage view - beneath the spreadsheet - to show information about the tasks to which the resources or cost centres have been assigned, or about the resources or cost centres, or allocations, themselves. Each row relates to a column in the resource usage view, with the top row relating to the left-most column and the bottom row relating to the right-most column:
Field/Button | Description |
---|---|
Field | The name of the field that is displayed in the column. Click this column to select a different field. |
Source |
Specify whether the field should display information relating to the bar, task, allocation or resource/cost centre.
If you have configured the resource usage view to analyse the standard work of permanent resources - using the Standard work assignments fields on the Allocations tab of this dialog - fields display information about the type of standard work if you select Task in this column, or details of the standard work assignment if you select Alloc. |
Align | Specify whether the information should be aligned to the left, right or centre of the column. |
Width | Specify the initial width of the column, in millimetres, in which the information is displayed. |
Title | Enter a descriptive title to apply to the column; this defaults to the name of the selected field. |
Format | Click this button to display the Column tab of the Format Columns and Cells dialog, which you can use to specify the format of the selected column. |
The following buttons are displayed beneath the Display columns grid:

The Group/Sort grid on this dialog displays the following information about each level of grouping/sorting that you apply to the resource usage view. Resources or cost centres are grouped/sorted according to your selections in this grid, with each row in the grid relating to a level of grouping/sorting:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Field | The name of the field by which you want to sort/group the rows in the resource usage view. Click this column to select a different field. |
Source | Specify whether to sort/group the rows in the resource usage view according to information relating to the bar, task, allocation or resource/cost centre. |
Group |
Select this check box to display a hierarchical band at this level, grouping together the resource usage view rows that are sorted at this level, or clear the check box to omit hierarchical banding at this level.
For example, if you sort/group rows first according to Name then according to Project and select the Group check box for both levels of sorting/grouping, a hierarchical band appears at the head of each resource or cost centre's allocations, with subordinate bands to indicate the projects in which the allocations are located. |
Ascending | Select this check box to sort/group this level of rows in the resource usage grid in ascending alphanumeric order, or clear the check box to sort/group this level of rows in descending alphanumeric order. |
The following buttons are displayed beneath the Group/sort grid:

Up | Click this button to move the currently selected row up one place in the grid, moving this level of sorting/grouping up one level. |
Down | Click this button to move the currently selected row down one place in the grid, moving this level of sorting/grouping down one level. |
