Resource Usage Properties dialog - Allocations tab
You use the Allocations tab of the Resource Usage Properties dialog to specify which types of allocation to include in the resource usage view and whether to analyse actual amounts, remaining amounts, or both. If you analyse the allocations of permanent resources, you can specify whether standard work is included in the analysis - and if so, which types of standard work should be included. You can also specify whether any under or over-allocation should be highlighted in the resource usage view.
How to access the Resource Usage Properties dialog
To access the Resource Usage Properties dialog, click Properties in the left pane of the resource usage view, or right-click an allocation row in the resource usage view and select Resource Usage View Properties.
Explanation of the fields on the dialog

| Permanent | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse, in hours, the effort of permanent resource allocations. |
| Consumable | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the quantity of consumable resource allocations. Note that the resource usage view does not identify the units in which consumable resource quantities are recorded. |
| Cost | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the amount of cost allocations. |
| Income | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the amount of income allocations. |
| Scheduled | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse only scheduled resource allocations, ie allocations of specific resources. |
| Demand | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse only demand resource allocations, ie allocations of resource folders rather than allocations of specific resources. |
| Both | Click this radio button to specify that the resource usage view should analyse both scheduled and demand resource allocations. |
| Actual | Select this check box to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the effort of permanent resources, the quantity of consumable resources, or the cost or income of cost centres, that has been completed. |
| Remaining | Select this check box to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the effort of permanent resources, the quantity of consumable resources, or the cost or income of cost centres, that remains to be completed, ie that which is planned. |
| Total | Select this check box to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the sum of the actual and remaining effort, quantity, cost or income of resources or cost centres. |
| Avg. allocation | If the resource usage view is configured to analyse permanent resource allocations, select this check box to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the average allocation of permanent resources. |
| All standard work |
If the resource usage view is configured to analyse the effort of permanent resource allocations, click this radio button to specify that all types of standard work should be analysed as well.
If you include standard work details, each type of standard work that has been assigned to a resource appears in its own row immediately beneath the resource's row in the resource usage view. |
| No standard work | If the resource usage view is configured to analyse the effort of permanent resource allocations, click this radio button to exclude standard work from the analysis. |
| Selected items |
If the resource usage view is configured to analyse the effort of permanent resource allocations, click this radio button to specify that certain types of standard work should be analysed as well, then select the types of standard work to include in the field to the right.
If you include standard work details, each selected type of standard work that has been assigned to a resource appears in its own row immediately beneath the resource's row in the resource usage view. |

... specify which types of allocation to analyse in the resource usage view?
- Click the appropriate Type of allocation radio button to specify whether to analyse permanent resource, consumable resource, cost or income allocations.
- If analysing permanent resource or consumable resource allocations, click the appropriate Kind of allocation radio button to specify whether to analyse only demand or scheduled allocations, or both.

Select one or more Detail styles check boxes to specify whether to analyse actual (completed) values, remaining (planned) values, or the sum of both actual and remaining values. If you analyse more than one type of value, it is useful to select the Show detail labels check box on the Appearance tab of the Resource Usage Properties dialog, to display an additional column to indicate the type of value that is displayed in each row.

If analysing permanent resource allocations, select the Avg. allocation check box to specify that the resource usage view should analyse the average allocation of permanent resources. If you analyse more than one type of value, it is useful to select the Show detail labels check box on the Appearance tab of the Resource Usage Properties dialog, to display an additional column to indicate the type of value that is displayed in each row.

If analysing permanent resource allocations:
- Click the All standard work radio button to include details of all types of standard work assignments.
- Click the No standard work radio button to exclude standard work from the analysis.
- Click the Selected items radio button, then select the types of standard work to include in the field to the right, to include details of certain types of standard work assignments.
