Quality Check Properties dialog - Details tab
You use the Details tab of the Quality Check Properties dialog to specify the quality metrics that you want to include in a schedule quality check. You can also use this dialog to execute a quality check and to view the results from the last time it was executed.

To access the Quality Check Properties dialog, right-click a quality check in Library Explorer and select Properties.

Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Enter a descriptive title for the schedule quality check. |
Weighted total fail boundary |
Enter the percentage that constitutes a fail for the schedule quality check as a whole. When you execute a schedule quality check, a weighted total percentage for the quality check as a whole is calculated. If the weighted total percentage is less than the fail boundary that you enter here, the quality check as a whole is shown to have failed.
|
Weighted total pass boundary |
Enter the percentage that constitutes a pass for the schedule quality check as a whole. When you execute a schedule quality check, a weighted total percentage for the quality check as a whole is calculated. If the weighted total percentage is greater than or equal to the pass boundary that you enter here, the quality check as a whole is shown to have passed.
|
Metrics |
Click the check box to the left of a quality metric to include it in the quality check, or clear the check box to exclude a quality metric from the quality check.
Use the fields to the right to specify the settings for each metric. The fields that appear to the right depend on the type of metric that is selected.
Refer to the table below for a list of available quality metrics. |
Weighting |
Enter the factor by which the quality metric should be multiplied to affect its impact on the weighted total result of the quality check - an indication of whether the quality check as a whole has passed or failed. For example, enter 2.00 to double a metric's impact, or 0.50 to halve it; a weighting of zero would mean that the metric had no effect on the weighted total result. Giving those metrics in which you are most concerned a higher weighting than other metrics increases their impact on the weighted total result. |
Duration |
For quality metrics that must be compared against a given duration, enter the duration in this field.
This field does not appear for all quality metrics. |
Count |
For quality metrics that must be compared against a given number, enter the number in this field.
This field does not appear for all quality metrics. |
Start / finish activities |
The start task of a project will have no predecessor tasks and the finish task will have no successor tasks. You can choose to exclude the start and finish tasks in a project from the 'link logic' quality metric. If the scope of a quality check is the entire project - from start to finish - it makes sense to do this, as if you include the start and finish tasks in this quality metric, they will fail the metric even though they are correctly linked. Select this check box to exclude the start and finish tasks from the 'link logic' quality metric. If you select this check box, if there is a single task in the scope of the quality check that has no incoming links and if there is a single task in the scope that has no outgoing links, these tasks will be assumed to be the start and finish tasks and will pass the metric. If you select this check box and there are multiple tasks with only incoming or outgoing links, all such tasks will fail the metric, just as they will fail if you clear the check box.
This field appears only for the 'link logic' quality metric. |
Allow finish activity |
The finish task of a project will have no successor tasks. You can choose to exclude the finish task in a project from the 'link activity finishes' quality metric. If the scope of a quality check is the entire project - from start to finish - it makes sense to do this, as if you include the finish task in this quality metric, it will fail the metric even though it is correctly linked. Select this check box to exclude the finish task from this quality metric. If you select this check box, if there is a single task in the scope of the quality check that has no outgoing links that start at the end of the task, this task will be assumed to be the finish task and will pass the metric. If you select this check box and there are multiple tasks with no outgoing links that start at the end of the task, all such tasks will fail the metric, just as they will fail if you clear the check box.
This field appears only for the 'link activity finishes' quality metric. |
Pass boundary |
Enter the percentage - or number, for quality metrics involving ratios - that signifies a "pass". For example, if you enter a pass boundary of 90%, the project is judged to have passed this quality metric if 90% or more of all tasks meet the metric description.
The pass boundary must always be greater than or equal to the fail boundary, with the exception of the missed tasks metric, in which case the boundaries are reversed as a iower value is preferable to a higher one.
This field does not appear for all quality metrics. |
Fail boundary |
Enter the percentage - or number, for quality metrics involving ratios - that signifies a "fail". For example, if you enter a fail boundary of 40%, the project is judged to have failed this quality metric if 40% or less of all tasks meet the metric description.
This field does not appear for all quality metrics. |
Last Results | Click this button to display the results of the quality check from the last time it was executed, in the Quality Check Results dialog. |
Execute |
Click this button to execute the quality check and assess the quality of the current project. Once the quality check has been executed, the results are displayed in the Quality Check Results dialog.
You must use the Scope tab of this dialog to specify the scope of the quality check before you can execute it. |
