Currency Unit Properties dialog
You use the
Currency Unit Properties dialog to view and maintain details of the currency units that you use within your projects. You define the exchange rate of all your currency units (denoted by the icon) in terms of your base currency unit (denoted by the
icon).

To access the Currency Unit Properties dialog, right-click a currency unit in Library Explorer and select Properties.

Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Enter the name of the currency, for example Pounds, Euros or Dollars. |
Short name | Enter the three-character standard international currency code, for example GBP, EUR, AUD or USD. |
Fraction name | Enter the name of the fractional currency units into which a unit of the currency is divided. For example, Pounds are divided into Pence; Euros and Dollars are divided into Cents. |
Symbol | Enter the symbol that is used to denote the currency unit, for example £, € or $. |
Decimal places | Enter the number of decimal places to use for fractional monetary units. In most cases, this will be 2. |
Positive format | Select the format in which to display positive amounts of the currency unit, including whether the currency symbol is placed before or after the amount. |
Negative format | Select the format in which to display negative amounts of the currency unit, including whether the currency symbol is placed before or after the amount. |
Exchange rate | Enter the figure by which you must multiply or divide amounts in this currency unit to convert them to the base currency unit. The exchange rate must always be 1.00000 for your base currency unit. |
Exchange rate type | Specify whether amounts should be multiplied and divided by the given Exchange rate to convert them to the base currency unit. |
For example, if your base currency unit is n, and there are 1.5 of currency unit a to the n and 0.5 of currency unit b to the n, you would set up the a and b currencies as follows:

How do I...

- Enter the name, international currency code, fraction name and symbol in the Names group, for example Pounds, GBP, Pence and £, or Dollars, USD, Cents and $.
- Define the number of decimal places you want to use for fractional units and the format in which you want to display positive and negative amounts in the Format group.
- Enter the figure by which you want to multiply or divide amounts in this currency unit to convert them to the base currency unit, and whether amounts should be multiplied and divided, in the Exchange rate group. The exchange rate must always be 1.00000 for your base currency unit.

- Rename the base currency unit to the unit of your choice.
- Edit its properties.
- Define the exchange rates of the other currencies in terms of the new base currency unit.
