Currency units

You can set up a currency unit for each currency that you need to use in a project. The base currency is denoted by Default Currency Unit; the exchange rate of other currencies is calculated in relation to the base currency. For example, if the base currency is US Dollars and you want to convert £1000 to €, £1000 is first converted into Dollars, then that amount is converted into €. You can set up the base currency to be whichever currency you want. To change the base currency, rename it to the currency of your choice, then set up its properties.

Whenever you enter an amount in a cost field in Asta Powerproject, you can enter the amount using any currency symbol that exists in Library Explorer. For example you could enter a cost in $, £ or €. If you allocate a number of costs using different currencies to the same task, the total task cost is calculated by summing the amounts together per currency (for example all $ amounts are summed together, all € are summed together etc), then these amounts are converted internally to the base currency, then the total cost of the task is displayed using the default currency.

When you enter an amount in a cost field in Asta Powerproject, you can enter an amount and a currency symbol or just the amount. If you only enter the amount, Asta Powerproject uses the currency that you have used most recently or, if that is not available or no longer valid, it uses the default currency.

You specify your default currency on the View tab of the Options dialog.

You can edit the properties of a currency unit by editing options on the Currency Unit Properties dialog. To access help for the Currency Unit Properties dialog, press F1 while viewing the dialog.
