Calendar Properties dialog - Work Pattern Assignments tab
You use the Work Pattern Assignments tab of the Calendar Properties dialog to assign one or more work patterns to the selected calendar. A work pattern is a sequence of working hours or shifts. The Standard Week work pattern, which appears in each project by default, is a 7 day work pattern starting on Sunday, where Saturday and Sunday are non-working periods and Monday to Friday have working periods from 09:00-12:45 and 13:45-17:30. When the end of a work pattern is reached, the sequence goes back to the beginning and starts again, so a work pattern defines a potentially infinite set of working days. Once you have assigned a work pattern to a calendar, it appears graphically on the Calendar tab.
Each calendar can have more than one work pattern assigned to it. For example, a large outdoor engineering project may require one work pattern for the winter months when poor daylight and bad weather may lead to shorter working days, and another work pattern for the summer months, when longer days and good weather mean that working days can be longer.

To access the Calendar Properties dialog, right-click a calendar in Library Explorer or the project view and select Properties.

The dialog displays the following information about each work pattern:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Work pattern | Select the work pattern to assign to the calendar. |
Offset | Select the shift with which you want the work pattern to start. |
Alignment date |
Specify the day on which you want the first shift to fall. For example, if the first shift should start on a Monday, select any date that is a Monday; if it should start on a Wednesday, select any date that is a Wednesday.
The alignment date does not have to be the same as the start date. For example, if the alignment date is a Sunday, setting the initial shift to a Sunday, but the start date is a Wednesday, the work pattern will begin with the Wednesday shift. |
Start date | Specify the date and time on which the work pattern should start. For example, you could specify that the work pattern only applies to the summer months. |
Finish date | Specify the date and time on which the work pattern should finish. |
The dialog displays the following buttons:
