Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog - Annotations tab
You use the Annotations tab of the
Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog to specify the attributes that you want to assign to new annotations by default.

To access the Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog, on the Project tab, in the Properties group, click Bar Chart Defaults.

Field | Description |
---|---|
Background colour | Select a background colour to display behind new annotations by default. |
Show border | Select this check box to display a border around new annotations by default, or clear the check box to display new annotations without a border. |
Drawing layer | Click the appropriate radio button to specify the drawing layer on the bar chart in which new annotations are displayed by default. You can display annotations in the foreground (on top of any bar chart objects), in the background (behind any bar chart objects but in front of any gridlines), or at the very back (behind all objects and gridlines). |
Category |
Select the category in which to place new annotations by default.
You can define any number of annotation categories in Library Explorer and choose which categories are displayed at any one time using the General tab of the Format Bar Chart dialog. For example, you might want to place all your cost annotations in a Costs category and only display that category when discussing the project with your company accountant. Annotations are placed in the default category unless you specify otherwise. |
Left/right | Specify the space to be left between the left and right edges of text and annotations' bounding boxes. |
Top/bottom | Specify the space to be left between the top and bottom edges of text and annotations' bounding boxes. |
Scale horizontally with chart | Select this check box to allow new annotations to be increased or reduced in size horizontally in proportion to the bar chart when printed, or clear the check box to prevent horizontal scaling. |
Scale vertically with chart | Select this check box to allow new annotations to be increased or reduced in size vertically in proportion to the bar chart when printed, or clear the check box to prevent vertical scaling. |
Do not expand bounds | Select this check box to prevent new annotations from being scaled to a size larger than that at which they are displayed on the screen when printed, or clear the check box to allow annotations to be scaled to a larger size. |
Anchor point |
Select the point from which scaling should occur by default. For example, if you select the top-left corner, the top-left corner remains in its current position and annotations are scaled (increased or reduced in size) around this point. |
Font | Click Change to select a different default font for use in new text annotations. |
