Setting annotation defaults

You can specify a number of default annotation properties so that when you create an annotation, it takes your default properties and you have fewer properties to change later.

To specify default annotation properties:

  1. On the Project tab, in the Properties group, click Bar Chart Defaults. The Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog appears.
  2. Click the Annotations tab.
  3. From the Drawing group, select the default background colour (if any) and whether or not to display borders on annotations.
  4. From the Drawing Layer group, select whether to display annotations in the foreground, in the background, or in the background and behind bar chart gridlines.
  5. From the Category field, select the category in which to place annotations by default.
  6. From the Scaling and Anchor point groups, specify the way in which annotations are scaled for output.
  7. From the Margins group, enter the default margins you want to apply to text annotations.
  8. From the Font group, select the default font and point size you want to apply to text annotations.
  9. Close the dialog to resume work in the bar chart.

If you have an annotation with all the properties that you want to use as the new defaults, right-click it and select Copy Properties to Defaults. That annotation's properties then become the new defaults, replacing the settings on the Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog.
