You use the Bar tab of the
Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog to specify the codes that you want to assign to new bars by default
How to access the Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog
To access the Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog, on the Project tab, in the Properties group, click Bar Chart Defaults.
Explanation of the fields on the dialog
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Library | This column displays an entry for each available code library. |
| Entry | Select one or more codes from each code library that you want to assign to new bars by default. The codes you choose to use by default are identified as such in the project view: they are displayed with a different icon. |
| Tasks may overlap |
Select this check box to specify that tasks on the same bar are able to overlap by default, or clear the check box to specify that tasks are not able to overlap by default.

... specify the codes to assign to new bars by default?
- Locate the code libraries from which you want to assign codes to new bars. The names of the available code libraries are displayed in the Library column.
- For each code library from which you want to assign codes to new bars, select the code, or codes, that you want to assign in the Entry column.
... specify that tasks on the same bar are able to overlap by default?
Select the Tasks may overlap check box to specify that tasks on the same bar are able to overlap by default, or clear the check box to specify that tasks are not able to overlap by default.
