Link snapping

When you draw a link, the start and end of the link jump or 'snap' either to the start and end of the tasks, or to the nearest time unit division along the length of the tasks. You can adjust the time unit used for snapping. For example, if the snapping time unit is weeks, you will only be able to draw links to and from the start and end of tasks, and at weekly divisions along the length of the tasks. So if you wanted to draw a link starting 3 days after the start of a task, you would have to change the snapping time unit to days before drawing the link.

You can only link at weekly intervals

You can link at daily intervals

With the snapping time unit set to weeks, you can only create links at weekly intervals

With the snapping time unit set to days, you can create links at daily intervals

The link snapping time unit is calculated from the base date and time. So if this is set to 09:00 on a Wednesday and you choose a snapping unit of working weeks, then the working week divisions will fall at 09:00 every Wednesday. So in this example you would be able to draw links from the start and end of tasks, and from every Wednesday at 09:00.

When working with non-working time displayed on the bar chart, you should be aware that if you draw a link from the start of a working period, it snaps back to the end of the previous working period. Also, if you draw a link to the end of a working period, it snaps forward to the start of the next working period.
