Inserting bars

You can insert bars above or below existing bars in a project. Inserting bars below existing bars is particularly useful if the current view has a sort/group applied to it, as this enables you to insert a bar after the last bar in a particular sort/group band.

When you insert new bars and you are using Asta Enterprise, the insert action may fail if the bars adjacent to the destination position are locked to another user.

If a group of dispersed tasks is selected, the new bar is inserted above or below the first selected task.

If a number of consecutive bars is selected, Asta Powerproject inserts the same number of empty bars above the first bar in the group, or below the last bar in the group. For example, if you had bars 6-8 selected, three empty bars would be inserted above the selected bar 6 or below the selected bar 8; if you had bars 6-8 and bars 17-18 selected, three empty bars would be inserted above the selected bar 6 or below the selected bar 8, and two empty bars would be inserted above the selected bar 17 or below the selected bar 18.

If you insert a bar in a sorted view, the position of the new bar in the natural order is determined by the preceding bar in the sorted view: Asta Powerproject places the new bar after the preceding bar in the natural order. If you insert a new bar at the top of a sorted view (where there is no preceding bar), the bar is positioned before the succeeding bar in the natural order.
