Defining the priority indicator appearance

You can define different colours and patterns with which to indicate the priority of bars, tasks and allocations. You can also display different images to indicate high, medium and low priorities. Displaying images in the priority indicator as well as - or instead of - colours helps colour-blind users to differentiate between the high, medium and low priorities. It also makes the different priorities more clear if you print to a monochrome printer.

Asta Powerproject uses the following colours by default to indicate priority:

  • High priority - red.
  • Medium priority - orange.
  • Low priority - green.

If you choose to display images to indicate priority, the following images are used:

A red circle with a white cross - high.

An orange circle with a white exclamation mark - medium.

A green circle with a white tick - low.

You can choose whether to display colours in the priority indicator alone, or to display them in the background of the spreadsheet cell as well:

To specify the way in which bar and task priority is displayed in the spreadsheet:

  1. Click the File tab, then click Options. The Options dialog appears.
  2. Click the Spreadsheet tab.
  3. Select the Display detailed images check box to display different images for the high, medium and low priorities in the priority indicator that is displayed when the Priority column is included in the spreadsheet, or clear the check box to display the priority indicator using coloured dots only.
  4. Select the Display priority appearance in spreadsheet cell background check box to display the High, Medium and Low priority colours in the background of the Priority column when it is displayed in the spreadsheet, or clear the check box to display the colours in the priority indicator only.
  5. Specify the foreground and background colours and a pattern with which to indicate bar, task or allocation priority in the High priority, Medium priority and Low priority fields. Note that if you select the Display detailed images check box, these colours are not applied to the priority indicator, but only to the spreadsheet cell background.
