Formula objects explained
You insert objects into formulae using the Object button on the Formula Properties dialog. The Select Object dialog appears. You use this dialog to specify the object that you want to insert.
In the context of formulae, an 'object' means any individual element from within a project, for example a calendar, task or progress period. For example, you may want to insert a specific progress period object into a formula in order to display information relating to that progress period only, or to use within a formula that calculates the difference between the start date of tasks and the report date of that progress period.
When you insert an object into a formula, it appears as the object's internal object ID. For example, if you insert a progress period called "Week 3" into a formula, the name itself will not appear in the formula, but the Week 3 progress period's object ID - for example '1043' - will.
