Assigning multiple skills to a permanent resource

Permanent resources can have more than one skill. For example, a permanent resource might be both a Bricklayer and a Roofer. If you have two separate permanent resource folders, one for bricklayers and one for roofers, you would want such a permanent resource to be available in both folders.

If you move a permanent resource from the Bricklayer folder to the Roofer folder, it is no longer shown to have the Bricklayer skill. If you copy a permanent resource from the Bricklayer folder to the Roofer folder, you create two separate resources, both with the same name: one as a Bricklayer and one as a Roofer. To have just one resource with multiple skills, you must assign a new skill to the resource. You can do this in either of the following ways:

  • Holding down CTRL SHIFT as you drag the resource from one folder and drop it into another.
  • Right-dragging the resource and choosing Assign New Skill when you release the drag.

When a resource has multiple skills, a shortcut icon is displayed by the resource name in the list view. In the following example, the first permanent resource in the list has more than one skill, but the second and third do not:

Three permanent resources; the shortcut icon on one shows that the resource is multi-skilled
