Marking project milestones

You may want to work with events that have no duration, such as a deadline or a payment date. You do this in Asta Powerproject by inserting milestones into a project. Milestones act like normal tasks - you can link them to other tasks and they can be critical or have float - but they have a duration of zero.

You can use milestones to highlight:

  • The project start and finish date.
  • The start or end of important phases within a project.
  • Events, such as trade shows or meetings.
  • Deliveries.
  • Payment dates.
  • Deadlines.

As milestones have no duration, you can instantly use or supply resources and costs to a project by assigning consumable resources or fixed costs to them. For example, you could make an allocation supplying bricks to a milestone to show that there has been a delivery.
