Specifying which calendar to use by default
You can specify which calendar you want to apply to new tasks by default as you create them.
To specify the default calendar:
- Locate the calendar you want to apply to new tasks by default in the project view.
- Right-click the calendar and select Task Default from the menu that appears.
The Calendar Settings dialog appears. You use this dialog to specify whether you want to use the same calendar for folding away non-working time in the date zone and for displaying non-working time on subheading bars. You may wish to use the same calendar for a number of purposes in order to synchronise the way in which you view your project information. - Select the Date zone folding calendar check box if you want to fold away non-working time in the date zone according to the selected calendar.
You can also specify the date zone folding calendar in the Folding calendar field on the General tab of the Date Zone Properties dialog. - Select the Subheading calendar check box if you want to display non-working time on subheading bars - ie bars with a name but with no tasks - according to the selected calendar.
You can also specify the subheading calendar in the Subheading calendar field on the Non-Working tab of the Format Bar Chart dialog. - The selections you make in the above two fields only apply to the current view unless you select the Default in all my existing views check box. Select this check box if you want your selections to apply to all of your user views.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
The default calendar appears with a different icon in the project view, to differentiate it from the other calendars.
To remove the default setting from a calendar, either select another calendar to be the default, or right-click the calendar and select Task Default again to remove the default setting from it. If you remove the default setting from a calendar, the Calendar Settings dialog appears again, asking if you want the change to be applied to the date zone folding calendar and the subheading calendar as well.
You can also specify which calendar to apply to new tasks by default by selecting it in the Calendar field on the Task tab of the Bar Chart Defaults Properties dialog.
