Editing the working and non-working periods of a shift

You can edit the working and non-working periods of a shift once you have created it as part of a work pattern. You may want to do this if a resource's working times change, or if the work pattern includes new exceptions such as overtime.

To edit the working and non-working periods of a shift:

  1. Open Library Explorer.
  2. Click Work Pattern in the tree view, then open the work pattern that contains the shift you want to edit.
  3. Open the shift you want to edit, then right-click a period and select Properties. The Edit Time Period dialog appears.
  4. Set the start and end time of the time entry, specify the type of exception the time entry defines and click OK.

If you set a start time that overlaps the preceding period, or an end time that overlaps the following period, the start or end time of the preceding or following period is updated to match the new times you have entered. If you edit the shifts in a work pattern in such a way that all of the shifts are inconsistent with the work pattern's time units, a warning appears and you are offered the chance to update the work pattern's time unit overrides automatically so that they match the shifts.

If you want to plan in half days, ensure that the morning working period and the afternoon working period of a shift are of equal duration.
