Changing your password

You use the Change Password dialog to change the password you use to sign into Asta Connect. You should change your password if you think someone else may have gained access to your current password.

You cannot change your password using the Change Password dialog if you sign into Asta Connect using your Microsoft Entra ID credentials.

Asta Connect's default password complexity settings are that passwords must be at least six characters in length, with no other restrictions. However, your system administrator may have configured Asta Connect to demand that you use more complex passwords, with a different minimum length. For example, you may need to enter a password that contains:

  • At least one number - for example '5'; '8'; '3'.
  • At least one lower-case alphabetical character - for example 'g'; 'd'; 'u'.
  • At least one upper-case alphabetical character - for example 'F'; 'E'; 'B'.
  • At least one character that is neither a number or an alphabetical character - for example '*'; '&'; '%'.

To access the Change Password dialog, click a person icon at the top-right of the Asta Connect screen, then click Change password.

To change your password:

  1. On the Change Password dialog, enter your existing password in the Current Password field.
  2. Enter the password you want to use from now on in the New Password field.
  3. Re-enter the new password in the Confirm New Password field.
  4. Click Save.

If your new password does not meet the minimum complexity requirements, you are notified of the requirements and you are unable to click Save.
