Where you can archive data to

Each Asta Enterprise project is contained within a data source, which is located on an Enterprise server. Depending on the way in which your Asta Enterprise system is configured, you may have more than one Enterprise server, and each Enterprise server may contain more than one data source. Just like projects, each archive is contained within a data source, which is located on an Enterprise server.

You can create as many archives as you want of a project. You may, for example, want to create a single archive for a project, and update it each time you archive data. Alternatively, you may want to create a different archive each time you archive data. Archives can be located in a different data source to the corresponding projects, provided that each archive is located on the same Enterprise server as the project.

Data from any baselines that are associated with a project is archived into a separate baseline archive. As with project archives, baseline archives can be located in a different data source to the corresponding baseline, provided that each baseline archive is located on the same Enterprise server as the baseline.

All the baseline archives for a single archiving operation are created together in the same data source: you cannot split the baseline archives for one archiving operation across multiple data sources. This is the case even if the project from which you are archiving data has multiple baselines that are contained within different data sources.
