Untagging a user-defined field
Untagging a user-defined field is a way of removing the field without affecting any data that has been entered into the field. If you untag a user-defined field, the Asta Enterprise system's link to the field is removed, but the field and any data that has been entered into the field is left in the database. Therefore, although Asta Powerproject can no longer access the information, other database applications can.
If you untag a user-defined field that is referenced by an OLE automation routine, an error message will be displayed when you try to use the OLE routine.
To untag a user-defined field:
- In the left-hand pane, select the data source from which you want to untag a user-defined field, then select the User Fields folder. The user-defined fields that have been added to the data source are listed in the right-hand pane.
- Select the user-defined field you want to untag.
- Select User Defined Fields from the Custom menu, then select the Untag command. You are asked to confirm that you want to untag the field.
- Click Yes to confirm the action. The selected field is untagged.
