Opening and closing charts

To view the programme chart in the current bar chart window, click the programme chart icon in the project view. To view the programme chart in a new bar chart window, click the View dropdown in the View group on the Home tab, then select Default Bar Chart View.

When the current bar chart view contains an expanded task (), you can open the subchart within that expanded task by doing any of the following:

Double-clicking the expanded task.
Selecting the expanded task from the chart hierarchy in the project view.
Selecting the expanded task then clicking in the Hierarchy group on the Home tab.

To move back up to the parent chart, do any of the following:

Click in the Quick Access toolbar.
Select the parent chart from the chart hierarchy in the project view.
Right-click a blank area of the bar chart, then select Up One Level.

Depending on the way in which the project is configured, expanded tasks may appear as subheadings in the spreadsheet, without being displayed in the bar chart. If this is the case, you must move into subcharts by selecting expanded tasks from the chart hierarchy in the project view.
